Coming soon -Tribute Plaza!
Years ago, New Buffalo Township acquired the former Michigan State Police property. The old post and the former ambulance barn—once home to New Buffalo Ambulance—have since been removed, opening the way for something new. This site, located at the gateway to the township off I-94 and as you enter the City of New Buffalo, is the perfect setting for a welcoming and meaningful landmark.
Township Treasurer Jack Rogers long envisioned transforming this space into a Veterans Park—a place to honor those who have served our nation and to remember those who are no longer with us. As a proud U.S. Army veteran himself, Jack’s dream resonated deeply with the Township Board, which made it a priority to bring his vision to life.
At the heart of the park stands a one-of-a-kind, eight-foot metal globe crafted by local artist Josh Andres. Surrounding the globe are plaques, also designed by Andres, that pay tribute to each branch of the armed forces. The community’s support has been remarkable—over 200 commemorative bricks have been sold, each inscribed with the name of someone who has served, from New Buffalo and beyond. These will be laid within the park as lasting symbols of gratitude.
Tribute Plaza will be open to everyone. We hope it serves as a peaceful place of reflection, remembrance, and pride for all who visit.
