Update from Berrien County Road Department:
At end of day, Thursday, August 29, 2024, the Berrien County Road Department is happy to report that roads have been reopened and are now passable. Private contractors and utility crews are still active in areas impacted by storm damage.
The Berrien County Road Department (BCRD) is incredibly proud and thankful for the hard work from all our staff and crews. The staff did a fantastic job navigating the severely damaged areas; working safely with entangled utility lines to get road access restored.
BCRD staff from the Benton Harbor Garage, Eau Claire Garage, and Construction Crew provided aid and equipment to help support the Baroda Garage and Bakertown Garage cleanup efforts. A fantastic job and show from staff coming together to provide services to the community.
Thank you to the public for their patience as staff worked to navigate impassable roads and facilitate support for other responders working to clear impacted areas and restore utility services.
Please be mindful that debris that has fallen onto private property will not be cleaned up by Road Department staff. Cleanup on private property will fall to the responsibility of the property owner.
Additional clean-up activities to the road right-of-way will occur after Labor Day.
If you have questions, please contact the Road Department offices.
